If you already own Forsaken, you'll receive this pack automatically and these Forsaken Ciphers will become Ascendant Shards instead. It also comes with three Exotic Forsaken Ciphers which can be redeemed for any Forsaken Exotics excluding pinnacle Exotics like One Thousand Voices. It will let players access the Last Wish and Shattered Throne as well as all of the Forsaken Exotics.

For starters, the Forsaken campaign will be available for free to all players from Decemthrough February 22, 2022.ĭecember 7 will also see the release of a new Forsaken Pack which is essentially a trimmed version of the expansion. Overall, Destiny 2 feels like a hybrid of Call of Duty and Overwatch, which are games I do not care for.Īlso, just for shits and kicks, I honestly have to question why most of the non-interactive NPCs are always making discrediting Guardians when, in Destiny 1, they were practically bending head-over-heel for us and we slayed several gods.Compared to the first round of vaulting, which basically just gave players a stick to bite down on, the Year 5 vaulting will be cushioned slightly.

The story feels like something from a Marvel comic book with corny, lazy dialogue, the different environments and terrain look too cartoonish and colorful, and the mechanics (abilities, weapons, armor, etc.) are so unpolished and vastly different from its predecessor. I agree that Destiny 2 does not feel anything like the first game, not necessarily in the "quantity" aspect but "quality". Eye of the Gate Lord and On A Pale Horse).ĭestiny 2 was created under heavy supervision by Activi$ion, in combination with another company helping to make content for the game alongside Bungie, so whatever originality from the first game that could have carried over was stamped out. The soundtracks were made by some of the same composers who created the Halo soundtracks, and there are a few tracks in the Destiny soundtracks that subtly resemble music that was used in the Halo games (i.e. Joe Staten was the storywriter for Destiny 1, but due to the countless revisions, all that was left for the game was a framework with some lore that managed to not get thrown out (but it still has better lore than Destiny 2). After that, Destiny 3 will probably be released and everyone will move onto that.ĮDIT: I forgot to mention that a lot of stuff in Destiny 2 heavily incentivizes teamwork, so if you're a solo player and prefer to play as such, you'll have a very tough time.ĭestiny 1 was originally an end product created by most of the original Bungie employees who made Halo, but most of them abandoned ship around the time of the game's release, and all of its DLCs were finished by then. You'll most likely fully max out one character by Fall, which is probably when their final DLC is coming out, so the power level cap will be raised even higher, and grinding that out is as awful as the exotic drop rate.

Overall, I would just skip out on this game. I think you still have to buy the Expansion Pass (DLCs 1 and 2) as a prerequisite to purchasing Forsaken, but I'm not sure. You'll also want to buy Forsaken and the Annual Pass just so you can even get access to some of the current content. Questlines are even more repetitive and tedious and the rewards they yield are a letdown. Almost nobody does any raids in Destiny 2 since the stuff you get from those aren't worth the struggle (despite how easy raids are in D2). PvP is a total nightmare, even worse than the metas in the first game.

Like others have said, you may enjoy it as there is so much content and ongoing events compared to its predecessor, but it's not all it's cracked up to be.Įxotics might be easy to get in D1, but you'll have to pray for an exotic engram in D2 since the drop rates for those are incredibly low.
